Wi-Fi is the #1 cause of call drops for new agents. Plug in your Ethernet cable before every shift — even if your Wi-Fi seems fast. Most clients require it and your metrics depend on stability.
On the Arise platform, schedules open at specific times — and peak slots fill up fast. Set a phone alarm and log in the moment schedules open to grab the most profitable times.
Take detailed notes during client certification and organize them into a 1–2 page quick reference. Having answers at your fingertips reduces handle time and call anxiety dramatically.
Early login lets you catch software issues, reconnect a dropped headset, or restart a slow system before customers are waiting. Don't give away precious work time to preventable tech problems.
Track your metrics, reinvest in equipment, monitor your income weekly. The mindset shift from "employee" to "business owner" is the single biggest difference between average and top-earning agents.
As a 1099 contractor, no taxes are withheld. Open a dedicated savings account labeled "Taxes" and move 25–30% of every deposit there immediately. Future-you will be very grateful.
Post your shift schedule where everyone at home can see it. Use a Do Not Disturb sign if needed. Background noise can get you flagged by quality teams — protect your metrics and your income.
Don't overcommit your first few weeks. Schedule 15–20 hours and master the process before adding more. Overcommitting early and missing committed slots can impact your standing on the platform.
Not all client programs are equal. Research call volume, pay rates, and schedule flexibility before committing. A client with lower pay but fewer calls may actually earn you more per hour than a high-volume one.
Restart your computer before every shift. Disable startup programs, keep your hard drive at least 20% free, and run a weekly antivirus scan. A slow PC will hurt your performance metrics.
Step away from your desk on breaks — don't just scroll your phone. Stand up, stretch, get fresh air. Short physical resets significantly improve call quality in your second half of the shift.
Your internet, headset, home office, and even a portion of your electricity are deductible. Keep a running expense log (a free Google Sheet works great). These deductions reduce your tax bill significantly.
